Visit Our Farm

We offer three experiences here at our organic olive grove:

Meet The Maker – a Day at an Organic Olive Farm:

10am to approximately 3pm,

Fridays, Sundays in May and June

Final Dates for Early Summer 2023:

May 19th

June 30th

Your day begins with a guided tour of our olive grove: its history, organic farming methods that we use, and lots of information about how we look after our trees at every time of year.

Depending on the time of year, you’ll see “work in progress”. Spring, for example, is pruning season. Visit us in March or April to find out the when, why and how we prune our trees – maybe you’d like to have a go yourself, under our guidance?

After all that fresh air, you’ll be ready for lunch! We love to showcase our delicious Sabina produce, so we’ll start with a selection of of local antipasti, followed by a homemade pasta dish (vegetarian / vegan options available), washed down with delicious wine from our region.

After lunch, we’ll teach you about Extra Virgin Olive Oil: what it is, how it is made, how it should taste, and how to select it in the shops. We’ll also teach you how to recognise quality oil from its label. Then we’ll lead you through a tasting session. You’ll have a chance to taste a selection of oils, including our own! Finally, you will take away a taster tin of our 2022 Organic Extra Virgin Olive Oil and the opportunity to purchase more (while stocks last).

Pricing: Eu70 per person, with a minimum participant requirement of 4 and a maximum participation size of eight. Therefore, unless you are a group of 8, you may be in a mixed group of participants. If you wish to book a bespoke visit for 3 or less people, the cost is fixed at Eu280. If you would like a bespoke visit for between 4 and 8 people, we are generally able to accommodate this depending on bookings already made.

Just contact us using the form at the bottom of the page, and we will see what we can arrange!

Transport from our local train station at Stimigliano can be arranged, at a small extra cost. If this is needed, cost will be dependent on the number of people you are booking.

Olive Hill “Aperi-Tasting” Evenings

Approximately 5.00pm to 7.30pm (depending on day length)

Final Few Dates Available for Early Summer 2023:

May: 3rd, 17th, 27th, 31st (limited spaces)

June: Sold Out

July, August: Please contact us for availability

We also offer a shortened programme, commencing early evening. We will take a brief, guided walk through the olive grove, followed by similar tasting session to the one offered on our Meet the Maker Days. As you enjoy the cooler evening air, you can then enjoy snacks, the olive oil you have just tasted and refreshing local wine (beer and soft drink alternatives available) in our garden, overlooking our olive grove, and the gorgeous Sabina countryside. Finally, you will take away a taster tin of our 2022 Organic Extra Virgin Olive Oil and the opportunity to purchase more (while stocks last).

Pricing: Eu40 per person for a two hour tour and tasting session, followed by aperitivo: the minimum participant requirement for this event is 4 and a maximum participation size of 12. Therefore, unless you are a group of 12, you may be in a mixed group of participants. If you wish to book a bespoke visit for 3 or less people the cost is fixed at Eu160. If you would like a bespoke visit for between 4 and 12 people, we are generally able to accommodate this depending on bookings already made.

Just contact us using the form at the bottom of the page, and we will see what we can arrange!

Transport from our local train station at Stimigliano can be arranged, at a small extra cost. If this is needed, cost will be dependent on the number of people you are booking.

Harvest Days at Olive Hill

October, during the annual harvest

10am to approximately 5pm

We are always in need of help during the olive harvest! Read this delightful description of a day harvesting with us: https://olivehillsabina.com/refelections/

We harvest by hand using rakes, which means that this is an experience for anybody looking for a workout in the peaceful Sabina countryside. After a morning pulling olives out of the trees and onto the long olive nets, we sort the olives, selecting those which are suitable for milling. We fill the olive crates with these selected olives, load them into the tractor’s trailer, and bring them up to the house to store for a couple of hours, until we take them to the mill that evening for processing. After all this work, we offer a hearty lunch, with plenty of pasta and local wine. For those brave souls willing to continue to help us after their lunch, we’ll send you home at the end of your day with some of our delicious Organic Extra Virgin Olive Oil! Of course, you will also have the opportunity to purchase more oil, while stocks last.

Pricing: Eu50 per person, to include lunch, and, if you continue with us after lunch, a small, but beautiful, souvenir bottle of our delicious olive oil. The minimum participant requirement for this event is 4 and a maximum participation size of 8. As this is a harvest day on the farm, we are unable to accept bookings from single participants unless others have already booked.

Transport from our local train station at Stimigliano can be arranged, at a small extra cost. If this is needed, cost will be dependent on the number of people you are booking.

We anticipate our harvest will be in early October, but Mother Nature has the final say. Therefore, while we can take bookings in advance for this event, we cannot guarantee we will be harvesting on any set week or day.

In addition, as harvest days are weather dependent, we may need to cancel these days at short notice. The weather is about the only thing we can’t control (albeit plagues of locusts and pasta becoming impossible to find will also impact harvest days significantly!!). If the weather stops play, we would see if we could rearrange the next day, or a day soon after.

NOTE!!!!

Our farm is called Olive HILL Sabina for a reason!

We are a working farm in the countryside, and visits take place in all weathers.

Visitors WILL require stout footwear and clothing appropriate for the season.

Our terrain is not stroller friendly, but small people able to walk (or be carried) are very welcome here.
